Seasons Greetings! I LOVE being the December cover for Books & Buzz. Thank you Timothy Pike! To read the interview click here. I’m excited to say that “Writing with your Muse” will be released January 9th, 2024.

A review of Writing with your Muse from Book Life — Publishers Weekly. “Hawkin serves hearty doses of inspiration and imagination while frequently drawing on giants of literature and philosophy. She writes a rousing explanation of the motivation behind characters in Jaws before segueing into a brief chapter on writing sex scenes with one’s muse, where she urges writers to “Shed your moral cap and stop worrying about your mother”—vital advice for the tale spinner in each of us.”

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this interview with Paul Semel! October 2023

Excerpt: “Turns out, Estrada has a vinyl record collection and loves old Blues, so I got to listen to some lovely old tunes while I was writing: Otis Redding, B.B. King, Eric Clapton, Howlin’ Wolf. Check out my Spotify playlist “Estrada’s Flat On The Drive” if you’d like to hear it too. I also have a playlist for some old Goth called Club Pegasus. I’m a musician myself, so love that Conall’s into music. “You’re gonna be a rock star,” Estrada tells him, and when he sings at Club Pegasus, he blows everyone away.

“Great characters that are incredibly well-built. A depth of emotional description that will surprise you. Drama, lots of drama. A connection with Nature that will have you looking around with new eyes. Great erotic scenes of intimacy, many of which aren’t even “sexual” per se.”

“delightful, witty, funny . . . bloody chaos.”

Chatting with Abby St. John at CKSA-TV Saskatchewan about two new books I’m about to launch: To Dance with Destiny (Hollystone Mysteries Book 5) launches October 31st, 2023 and Writing with your Muse: a Guide to Creative Inspiration launches January 9th, 2024. (October 5th, 2023)

Latest Review for To Kill a King (Hollystone Mysteries Book 4).Strongly plotted adventure with a lot of (yummy!) drama. There’s never a dull moment in this book and, although the author is determined for the reader to understand the historical setting, it’s cleverly interwoven into the plot. As a result, the pacing is excellent.

However, if you happen to have an interest in Iron Age Ireland, you’ll also find this a compelling read. Of note, this is the fourth book in the set; personally, I have not read the other books, but I did not feel it was a problem. The author, it seems, can do no wrong.
All in all, a bit of a gem!

An in-depth interview with Ian Benkin, Authority Magazine—”How to Create Compelling Science Fiction and Fantasy Stories”. Sept 2022

This reviewer at The Read Era loved To Charm a Killer — “the perfect balance of mystery, action, romance and fantasy”Sept 2022

A 10/10 review of To Render a Raven by Anthony Avina. “By far the most action-packed and yet most emotional of the Hollystone Mysteries series. The author did such an incredible job of building upon the mythos and cultures of the supernatural and paranormal. From unique changes to the vampire mythos and lore to the infusion of Celtic practices and explorations of high strangeness, the author brilliantly captures the magic and wonder of the world in which these characters inhabit.” Read the full review here. May 2022

Crowned Heart Review from InD’Tale Magazine, pg 74.  My favourite quote. “Though second chance love is common in romances, the Native American ties with nature and spirit is beautifully portrayed, with teachings passed down through the ages lifting the story. The sub-plots and minor characters all lend multiple layers of mystique and suspense to an absolutely beautiful tragedy. The twists and turns will keep pages flipping wildly. “Lure: Jesse & Hawk” definitely deserves a spot as a reader’s favorite.” — Viola Robbins, April 2022

One of my favourite reviews of To Sleep with Stones by Anthony Avila. My favourite line: “The whole narrative plays out like an HBO show waiting to be developed, combining elements of LGBTQ+ and adult storytelling into a complex character study of those who seek the answers hidden within the most complex systems of our universe, from historians and archeologists to Wiccans and Pagans.” November 2021
